Welcome from the CWSF Chief Judge

I look forward to welcoming you to the Canada Wide Science Fair to be held from 11 - 17 May 2019 on the campus of the University of New Brunswick. We are looking for 340 judges willing to spend time with the next generation of Canada's scientists. The Canada-Wide Science Fair is an annual celebration of science and engineering. Each year, the fair is held in a different city and organized locally under the auspices of Youth Science Canada. The Canada-Wide Science Fair attracts approximately 400 projects and 500 youth finalists from over 100 regions in the country. The finalists are winners of their regional or provincial science fairs, and now compete for prizes and recognition at the national level. At stake is approximately one million dollars in scholarships and awards. To evaluate each project fairly and comprehensively, a total of 340 English, bilingual or French speaking judges volunteer their expertise, experience, and time to be part of this celebration. It is an enormous responsibility and I thank you for taking on this challenging task. You have the unique opportunity to interact with some of the brightest young scientific minds in our country. Judging is the heart of the competition and is a stimulating interaction for participants and judges alike. I have no doubt that you will be inspired by what the finalists have accomplished.
With much appreciation,

Ben Newling
